Calcutta High Court bars enforcing dress code for teachers

According to this report, the Calcutta High Court has said that no dress code can be enforced against teachers.

The judge also pointed out that developing proper infrastructure and building the right educational atmosphere should be the prime focus of the governing bodies, and not issuing fatwas on what kind of attire a teacher should wear while attending school.

From the report, the (women) teachers were asked to wear only white sarees because it was a tradition.

I don’t understand what the school was thinking here. Why should the color of a saree matter? If a teacher is able to teach, that’s all that matters, no??
